A prayer in times of a newly emerging virus

Jesus Christ, our brother!
When you appeared amongst us, it was with the words: “Take courage, do not be afraid.”
And you said: “Let not your hearts be troubled.”
But your strength,
Being one with your heavenly Father,
We are too small to possess.
We are affected by anxiety, when a new disease disrupts our everyday life
And we feel fear because we know people who are particularly exposed to the new virus.
We think of them.
We pray for them.
And we pray for ourselves,
Let your spirit work in us
Grant us serenity,
Lend us a glimpse of your strength,
So we can live with each other
in an attentive, considerate and helpful manner
Help us to rest in your presence,
Let us be agents of your love
From which everything emanates by your will
Creating faith and hope,
Amen
