What internet options are available for kids and teens searching for christian communities while quarentined? Explore this collection of carefully selected virtual spaces with free, good quality content.
Kids and teens can feel especially isolated during the Corona lock-down which is currently in its third week. Having to adapt to a completely new and different daily routine and being cut off from important social groups and gatherings at an age where social development is crucial, can make them feel particularly restless and anxious. This is also and maybe especially the case when it comes to those who usually have Christian communities, Sunday school or church as part og their social routine.
As many churches are rushing to find online sollutions, kids and teens who are already digital natives, will most likely find this transition easier and more intuitive to settle into. The challenge is keeping up with the rapid speed of online developments in Christian options. Here you'll find a list of church-alternatives for kids and teens, that are free and easy to access:
- Daily Facebook live streaming of children’s program with Bible stories, Christian songs and children’s activities. The program is in Danish and broadcast by the umbrella organization for Sunday Schools in Denmark.
- Youtube videos about “Uncle Aage” – a TV-series in Danish for children in 6 short episodes about faith during the corona crisis. Production by the Christian children’s organization Børn & Tro.
- Daily Facebook live streaming program “Karantæneklubben” – a program aimed at 10-15-year-olds with live interaction and opportunities to ask questions etc. The program is in Danish and broadcast by the Christian youth organization “Youth for Christ”.
- Khan Academy - an online learning platform available in different languages, including Danish, English, Arabic, Polish, Spanish and many more. It is not a Christian-specific site, but has great free and high quality courses on Christianity, religion and a range of other relevant themes.
